Annual Easter Celebration Brings Families and Community Together in Oakland

Event Overview

On April 4, 2026, University of Oakland, in partnership with Euniece Law – The Legacy Continues, hosted the Annual Easter Celebration at Castlemont High School in Oakland. This free community event brought together families, children, local organizations, and small businesses for a day focused on community connection, service, and opportunity.

The Annual Easter Celebration was designed to create a safe and welcoming environment where families could enjoy Easter activities while also connecting with community programs, local vendors, and service providers. Events like this reflect the University of Oakland’s mission to support the community through education, entrepreneurship, ownership, and opportunity.

What Happened at the Event

The event featured a wide range of family-friendly activities and community services throughout the day. Children and families enjoyed Easter egg hunts with jumbo eggs and baskets, face painting, jumpers, and a Kid Zone area filled with games and activities. The event also included a Game Bus, live DJ and music, and a variety of food vendors and community booths that created a lively and welcoming atmosphere.

One of the most impactful parts of the event was the Free Haircut Station, organized by the University of Oakland Barber & Entrepreneur Program in partnership with Jaguar Speed Inc. Barber Program. Barber students and licensed barbers volunteered their time and skills to provide free haircuts to children and community members, offering a meaningful service while also giving barber students real-world experience working with the public.

Local organizations and public safety representatives, including Sheriff Department, Oakland Fire and BART PD, were also present at the event, giving families the opportunity to meet and interact with community partners in a positive and supportive environment.

Community Impact

The Annual Easter Celebration was more than just a holiday event; it was a community service initiative focused on supporting families and creating opportunities. Families were able to access free services, children enjoyed a safe and fun environment, and local businesses and organizations were able to connect directly with the community.

The Free Haircut Program, in particular, highlighted how the Barber & Entrepreneur Program continues to provide students with hands-on experience while also giving back to the community. Events like this help participants build confidence, develop professional skills, and understand the importance of community service and entrepreneurship.

The Community Marketplace also gave local vendors, small businesses, and community organizations a platform to showcase their products, services, and programs, helping strengthen local economic and community development.

Partnerships & Community Collaboration

This event was made possible through the partnership between University of Oakland and Euniece Law – The Legacy Continues, along with the support of the University of Oakland & Jaguar Speed Inc. Barber Program, participating vendors, volunteers, and community organizations.

Through partnerships like these, University of Oakland continues to create programs and events that bring education, resources, and opportunities directly to the community.

Looking Ahead

University of Oakland will continue to host community events, educational workshops, and service programs that support families, youth, and entrepreneurs throughout Oakland. These events are part of a larger mission to create pathways to education, homeownership, entrepreneurship, and economic opportunity.

The Annual Easter Celebration is one of many community initiatives focused on bringing people together, providing valuable services, and creating meaningful opportunities for the Oakland community.
