A Day of Giving, Celebration, and Connection
In December 2025, the University of Oakland proudly hosted the Community Holiday Gift Giveaway, welcoming Oakland families for a day filled with generosity, celebration, and connection. Designed to support children and youth ages 0–18, the event provided toys, food, services, and joyful holiday experiences for families across the community.
More than a seasonal celebration, the Gift Giveaway reflects the University of Oakland’s commitment to serving with intention, creating spaces where families feel supported, valued, and uplifted.
What Happened at the Event
Bringing Holiday Joy to Oakland Families
Parents and guardians registered in advance, and children arrived excited to choose their own gifts, creating a meaningful and memorable experience for every family. From toddlers to teens, each child received a carefully selected toy or gift, ensuring no one was left out during the holiday season.
Families were welcomed into a warm, festive environment where children could explore a wide variety of toys, meet Santa, enjoy food, and participate in activities designed to make the day feel special. Volunteers and staff worked together to ensure every family felt seen, respected, and cared for.
The energy was evident from the very beginning, with families lining up before doors opened, a powerful reminder of both the need for and the strength of community-centered support.
